Where Glass Meets Light
Glass is never static. Light moves through it. Color Changes. Reflections appear and disappear. A piece can look different from one hour - or one room - to the next. That is what draws me to fused glass. Each piece begins with an idea and individual pieces of glass - cut, layered and composed by hand. Heat does the rest, transforming them in the kiln and often adding an element of surprise that makes every finished piece unique.

There is an element of discovery in every piece made. I can choose the glass, develop the composition and control the firing process - but the heat has a personality of its own. Inside the kiln, separate pieces soften, move and fuse together. That transformation is part of the art. What emerges is something that didn't quite exist before: color captured in glass, waiting for light.
